FFPA History

Founded in 1988 by visionaries of this community, the Fredericksburg Festival of the Arts (FFA) started as a small, world-class chamber music festival and evolved into a premier, year-round presenter of music, theatre, opera, ballet and other cultural programs in the Rappahannock region.

In 2011, to more accurately reflect this evolution, the name was changed to the Fredericksburg Festival for the Performing Arts (FFPA) and an identifying line added that really captures the motivating force of the organization:

educating • inspiring • celebrating since 1988.

With Season 2011-2012, FFPA celebrates its 25th Anniversary in high style and continues to delight audiences with an ambitious calendar of musical and theatrical performances of the highest artistic integrity.
